Our Story

The Birth of the Gotcha Cap

From Elite Military Training to Revolutionary Self-Defense Tool

Yaron Hanover

In memory of Yaron Hanover, January 16, 1964 – September 20, 2022

The Innovators Behind Gotcha Cap: From Combat Expertise to Design Excellence

The Gotcha Cap story began in 2011 with two innovators: Yaron Hanover, a world-renowned martial arts master, Dan 11 black belt and self-defense inventor, and Dov Ganchrow, a visionary product designer and accomplished martial artist in his own right.

Yaron Hanover's journey as a combat fighter instructor had taken him from the Israeli elite special forces to training with masters around the globe. His unique style, Ultimate Krav Maga (UKM), combines the most effective techniques from various martial arts into a comprehensive self-defense system. Dov Ganchrow, a senior lecturer at the prestigious Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, had already earned international recognition for his groundbreaking product designs.

When Dov Ganchrow began training with Yaron Hanover, their shared passion for martial arts and practical innovation sparked a revolutionary partnership. They identified a critical gap in personal security: most self-defense tools were inaccessible when needed most.

Their vision was clear: create a self-defense tool that would be instantly accessible, highly effective, and seamlessly integrated into daily life. This required merging combat expertise with innovative design.
